Kaipara Kitchen Renovation

Lakefront Home Refresh

This kitchen renovation was all about working within the existing footprint while creating a space that felt fresh, personal and true to the character of the home. The original warm-toned flooring was staying, so the soft lemongrass green cabinetry helped balance the richness underfoot. A slim shaker profile gave the kitchen a timeless feel, while the marble-look porcelain benchtop and splashback added gentle movement and a calm, elegant finish.

The island was designed to feel more like a generous piece of furniture than a standard kitchen island. Its table-like form makes better use of the space and gives the room a relaxed, gathered feel. The oversized textured pendant adds softness and scale, while the darker bar stools, floating shelves, coffee nook and iron-style handles bring depth and contrast, keeping the kitchen from feeling too soft or washed out.

The surrounding spaces were also updated to create a more cohesive feel throughout the home. The upstairs kitchenette was given a slightly darker, more refined look, while the powder room became a small moment of charm with whimsical wallpaper, black tapware, a curved mirror and a blue pendant. In the living areas, soft sheer curtains and deeper paint tones help frame the view and allow the furnishings and outlook to take centre stage.
